Behind this booming growth of the company was a complete technocrat who believed in the philosophy of “Progress through Knowledge”. He founded Structwel inn 18th April 1967 and through his exceptional work touched the lives of thousands of people in and outside the Engineering Fraternity globally.
With his concrete and unceasing belief in sharing knowledge for the greater good, he went on to publish four books namely.
Apart from the above, he also published over 100 papers at various national and international conferences. Some of the Repair Techniques developed by him, a few decades back still serve as Fundamental Guidelines to the current generations of Repair Engineers.
He relentlessly worked towards making Structwel a ‘knowledge based’ organization and paved a strong foundation of a learning culture within the organization. His passion for learning and growth reflects in the learning path he carved for himself. He held many esteemed degrees from various prestigious institutes of India and abroad; including B.E. Civil (Pune, 1962), F.I.STRUCT.E (U.K.), F.I.E. (India), F.A.C.I. (USA) & F.C.S.C.E. (Canada). He was the first few to introduce ‘Forensic Engineering’ to the Indian Engineers. He conducted numerous lectures in many engineering colleges in India and abroad to spread the knowledge on this, then a lesser-known concept.
He was bestowed upon numerous awards; some of them are All India Senior Structural Design Competitions. Silver Medals in 1966 and 1967, ACI Chapter activity Award (USA) in 1983, Association of Consulting Engineers (India) Award in 1990, Special Recognition Award for Leadership Role in the Concrete Industry in India by CANMET / ACI in 1994, Vishveshvaraiya Construction Excellence Award in category of Engineer of the Year by ICMR in 2003, ACI, USA awarded ACI Honorary Membership in 2004.
His strong virtues of righteousness and integrity have been deeply imbibed into the culture of Structwel.
He left for his heavenly abode on 08th March 2008.
Chetan R. Raikar, an accomplished Heritage Conservationist, has been instrumental in shaping Structwel into a leading name in engineering, conservation, and material testing. His vision and leadership led to the creation of Structwel Lab—the first privately owned Construction Material Testing Laboratory in India to be recognized with R&D status by the Government of India.
Armed with a Master’s in Conservation from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, and a B.E. in Civil Engineering from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, Mumbai, Mr. Raikar has guided the firm’s domestic and international growth. His expertise in structural repairs and heritage conservation is evident in projects involving globally recognized monuments and cultural landmarks.
Recipient of prestigious awards including the ACI Young Member Award, Maharashtracha Kohinoor Award, and CIDC Industry Captain Award, Mr. Raikar continues to be a respected voice in the industry. His academic and professional contributions extend to curriculum development, policy-making, and active participation in leading professional bodies.
From restoring bridges to shaping cutting-edge data centers, Kaustubh R. Raikar’s career spans over two decades of engineering excellence. His journey, backed by a Master’s in Civil Engineering from Virginia University and a Bachelor’s from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, reflects a consistent pursuit of quality and innovation.
At the helm of the company, Kaustubh has introduced robust systems in design, project execution, and financial management—transforming operations into a benchmark of professionalism. His portfolio covers industrial complexes, residential developments, healthcare facilities, and high-security defence projects, each executed with uncompromising attention to detail.
A believer in the strength of teams, he continues to champion progressive people practices, creating a culture where both employees and projects thrive.
For over three decades, Mr. Jayant C. Kadam has been at the forefront of Structwel’s journey as a leader in repairs and restoration. Heading the Projects Team, he brings expertise across civil and structural engineering, heritage conservation, forensic investigations, project management, and rehabilitation.
Under his technical guidance, Structwel has executed over 5,000 structural audits and investigations, delivering trusted solutions for industrial giants in petrochemicals, cement, and power.
Renowned for his integrity and technical depth, he also plays a key role in grooming young engineers, ensuring Structwel’s legacy of engineering excellence continues to thrive.
Mr. Milind Naik serves as the Technical Director at Structwel, overseeing the operations of all laboratories with the support of a highly trained team. With deep expertise in Construction Technology, he has worked on numerous projects, gaining extensive knowledge of construction materials, their behaviours, and the application of quality assurance and quality control practices on sites.
At Structwel, he has been instrumental in establishing robust systems for a wide range of material testing, both in laboratories and on project sites, ensuring precision, reliability, and industry-leading standards. He holds a B.E. in Civil Engineering from Pune, a Diploma in Construction Technology (D.C.T.) from AU, and has completed a Business Management Course from IIT Mumbai.
Mr. Swanand C. Raikar is a dynamic leader propelling the company’s growth mindset. With over a decade of experience, he has strengthened Structwel’s expertise in Project Management, providing complex structural solutions across Industrial, Commercial, and Residential sectors.
Holding a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from The University of Sheffield, England, he brings advanced technical knowledge and innovative design thinking to every project. Swanand’s forward-looking approach, focus on quality, and passion for fostering collaboration continue to inspire the team and reinforce Structwel’s position as an industry leader.
